Hmm.... Your machine is 172.18.250.27/24, a private IP. Your default
gateway is 172.18.250.6, which is on the same network. The DNS server is 172.19.250.7, which is a *different* network but still in private space. What type of network is this? It looks a little complex (multiple subnets) to be a typical home network. Is this at work or school, or do you have control of the intervening devices? You can ping the DNS server, but can't resolve queries against it while other machines can? It almost sounds like something on the DNS side is excluding your machine -- is there a domain or some form of restricted access in place there? Yea, a strange one I know. Its a work "private' network. A network for non
work internet access for our laptops etc, but its set up at work. Im trying to find out about the differnet addresses. It strange. Also trying to get into the main router to see the ip address setup etc, but the passwords not working. Aaauugghhh the hassels. Think I may have to just give up if I can get into the router and update or see what the settings are that are blocking me. The Joys. Thanks for your help though. "Michael A.
