I have been trying for several days to get .NET Framework 1.1 to install
using the windowsupdate site. I get no specific error message but that the
"update was not installed". I have to have .NET to install the latest
AutoCAD 2006 software.

I have scoured the newsgroups for info and everything I haved tried has
failed. Here's what I have and what I've done with it:
OS - XP Pro (sp2)
20+Gigs free on HD
1,2,3.) I have uninstalled all 1.0 components (Program from add/remove
programs, Registry entries, installer files)
4.) I have deleted the mscoree.dll files from computer.
5.) I have unregistered and registered my msiexec file.
6.) Turned off all startup files from msconfig.

What am I missing?

Hi EJStark,

There is no need to remove Framework 1.0 to install 1.1, they coexist, in fact some programs may rely on it..

Download the Framework redistributable and 1) try to install using that file. 2) If that fails extract the files and run the installation file manually.
