Negative Percentages in Report in Access 2007

I have a problem with the display of negative percentages in a report. If a negative percentage exceeds 2 decimals which is set as the length of the percentage required the report displays ******** . This is very strange as the control is supposed to display only 2 decimals , positive or negatvie. Can someone shed some light on how to solve this riddle?
