Hi, I have Windows XP Professional on my laptop at home, and I'm currently
shut out. When I switch on, it goes straight to a screen announcing that
there is a problem with starting up that may be due to an update (I did
notice when I last switched off that there was the little shield that says an
update will be put in place when you switch off).

The screen gives me a number of options (Safe Mode, Safe Mode With
Networking, Safe Mode With Command Prompt, Last Known Good Configuration, and
Start Windows Normally), but whichever I select I always end up back at the
same screen again. I'm shut out completely, and have no idea what to do.
Can someone advise, please? I'd be very grateful

Mark
