I need to reinstall XP. Does anyone know of websites that can prepare me
to do this by explaining the process and providing things to watch out for
(i.e. how to back and restore the OE emails).

As for OE emails.... Search for *.pst (email files) if you have another partition, you can copy the files you need into that partition. Once you are ready to format, reboot the PC and insert the WinXP CD.

Go to your BIOs, and set Boot up from CD-ROM. Save your settings and reboot.
This will enable booting from your cd. from there you can follow the instruction provided. You have to choose between FAT32 or NTFS (http://www.ntfs.com/ntfs_vs_fat.htm). After you have made your choice of file format, the setup will reformat that partition, following by installation.
