Is there a problem that you have to correct? Why do you want to disassemble it? On the site User Manuals are available to download but I doubt that Service manuals are downloadable. That is needed for disassembly, in any case someone with no knowledge should not be doing it. It would be better if you go to the Toshiba service center and get the fault rectified if any.

Hi Quadophile,

My laptop is overheating and it is resulting in shutdown.I am sure its because of the dust choking the heta sync.I have not done it before, but is it possible to do it with a manual or some other way that you can suggest?

Get your hoover, put some tights over the hoover nozzel, turn to max power and see if you can get the dust from around the fan hole to get rid of dust & crap

If you say your system is heating up, there is a way to deal with that. If you are prepared to go through the procedure you will I am sure get the desired results. I am providing a link to a software which can bring down the system temperature as well as prolong the battery life. You must take all precautions when using the software as mistakes can be costly.

As for the dust I assume you are mostly using the laptop in a non airconditioned environment and in India the ambient temperatures unlike in UK are higher resulting in system overheating and shutting down.

Anyway dissaembling the unit can cause damage if you are not careful so the software can be used to good effect first and if it does not solve your problem you are probably better off going to an Authorised dealer of Toshiba rather than experimenting on it yourself, especially if you have no prior experience.

Here is the link to the software, good luck!

Notebook Hardware Control

There is a Beginners Guide as well as an FAQ available at the site which I strongly suggest you go through before you start to use the program.

When you use the program go one step at a time, do not push your system to its limits. I was careful with the tweak and spread it over few days just making sure it was stable. The program itself when installed will not automatically tweak the settings, its when you instruct it will it change the settings. Besides, it will also test the stability to see if stability is an issue and revert back to previous settings.

You can manually create a restore point before you start to use the program just incase.
