Pull the hdd drive out of yopur notebook and get the specs on it. You may
even be able to do a google search once you locate who makes the drive and
its model number. Find out its interface connector as that's the key to
locating what kind of replacement you can use. ATA-6 is probably the
commonest, so if it matches that animal you're in luck, and can easily find
a replacement from many online merchants.
By the way, how do you know the hard drive in it is dead?
