it is not hooked up to the computer by the way
it just hooked up to a phone line, but idk if all of them have to be
hooked up to aphone like, idk im really lost when it comes to fax
machines..okay
here's the problem
okay there are these little buttons at the side..like 4 in a column
and they're blank like they have no names nor numbers beside
them...and now that i pressed one of them it shows a number, like a
phone number on the little screen, how can i delete or change that
number?

Well if nothing else we must give you the award for displaying the most
ingenuity in seeking free advice.
The bad news for you is that this is a newsgroup hosted by Microsoft for the
sole intent of supporting the printing and faxing software in Windows XP.
Your fax machine is not even on the radar screen. It should be supported by
its manufacturer.

- Look carefully at all 6 sides of the fax machine (top, bottom, left,
right, front, and back). You will almost certainly find the name of the
company that made the machine (e.g., Canon, Ricoh, HP, Brother, etc.).

- Look carefully, and you will also find the model designation of your
machine.

- Armed with these two pieces of information, go to the web site of the
manuracturers (almost certainly at www.[name of company].com).

- Search for the User Guide for your model on the manufacturer's web site.

- Download the User Guide to your computer and save it where you can
find it later. For example, save it in "My Documents."

- Read the User Guide.
