Need access to C drive (NTFS) but XP won't start

I am unable to start Windows XP (Pro I think it is). I have a
suspicion (but am not 100 % sure) that the hard drive may be full, so
it can't boot up. I have some valuable files on the C drive, so I
can't just format. If I could just get in and delete some files, I
think it should be ok (if full hard drive is the problem). So far,
I've only been able to find programs that create a bootable floppy
which you can these use to read data on the NTFS drive. However, I
need to delete data. Anyone know how to do that?

I don't have the CD for XP either.
And I don't have money to go out and buy another hard-drive or
anything.

Or even if someone knows of a program I can use to just determine how
much free space there is left on the C drive, I could confirm whether
or not the hard drive is the problem.

If none of this works, I'd like to use READNTFS.exe to copy some of my
files onto CD. But READNTFS can only find my floppy drive, which
can't store my larger files. Any way I can get it to find my CD
writer?

Thanks.

>Have you tried re-booting to the safe mode, or the "last

known good configuration" options ? And if able to, then
run the disk cleanup tool in your system tools. Or just
borrow a XP CD to use the Recovery Console to help fix
this. And then turn off system restore, reboot, and re-
select system restore to on, which removes old restore
points to free up more space.

Yes, have tried booting to safe mode and last known configuration (and
to every option that was offerred), but it just gets to loading
agp440.sys, sits there for ten seconds, then goes back to the screen
that says Windows couldn't be started.

Yes, I'm trying to find someone with an XP disc, but I don't like my
chances.
