Hello:

I have a laptop with a modem inside. Using Device Manager, from time to
time, cliking "properties" for the modem, then advanced, then advanced port
settings, then scrolling in the com list, I found that com4 and com5 are "in
use". I don't have any hardware using them.
how can know they are used by what? and in case of some error, can this list
be reset or flushed?

I used, some time ago, some virtual serial port emulators, then removed
them. I still use com-0-com which created a pair com1--com2. But normally if
a serial port was removed, it shouldn't appears "in use".

any help??

thanks
Maurice

PCMCIA or USB modems will appear as ComX where x > 3. I wouldn't worry about
it.

I don't have a PCMCIA card or USB modem or anything attached.
I've a general question: How can I know which device is using a specific
ComX (marked "in use")?? is it possible??

thank you

Maurice
