My hearing is actually quite good.

Not bad, considering two chemo sessions gave me tinitus for a while and lopped off a few high frequencies.

The tinitus is brief and does return occasionally, but it's getting better.

Tis true, over the years, DJ-ing and reviewing lots of promos, I do have a critical lughole.

Whilst I'm talking sound, I've just put my redundant Asus D2X pci-e sound card in my media machine and - bloody hell!

What a difference to the onboard sound.

I'm at the moment playing Cypress Hill's Black Sunday (recorded from Vinyl) and it is STEAMIN'

A small update.

Looking forward to October 22nd, I do hope Dixons mail the disk in good time.

I have ordered another Western Digital Velicoraptor from Scan which should arrive Monday to use with the one I received from WD as replacement for my 74Gb rma'd Raptor. This will give me a pair of 10,000rpm 150Gb disks to use in a RAID 0 config of 300Gb.

Which raises another question for me. Will Win 7 still require the RAID drivers to be on a floppy disk during install? Vista did but I do think it's about time Microsoft made it's OS's load RAID drivers from an optical drive or USB memory stick. I shall have to look into this.

If Win 7 does require RAID drivers to be loaded from a floppy then I'll have to refit my floppy drive into my machine. Ho-hum.

The pair of Hitachi 250Gb HDD's the Velicoraptors will replace I will use for storage with an external SATA drive dock, along with another 500Gb HDD.

I am running a Auzen X-Meridian since 2007 unfortunately not now available but I can say with certainty that the X-Fatality and the other of their sound cards using Creative chips are Auzen's own drivers and strangely are better sound cards than Creative's and better supported.
