My screen saver has been set to show photos randomly
from "My Pictures", which had some 22GB of photos (about
10, 000 photos) until today when the screen saver
appeared black with a small message stating that there
were no photos in my local C drive. I checked under My
Documents, then My Pictures and there are no longer any
photos, not a one!!! Yet, the properties of local C drive
show some 35GB which is about where it has always been
with the 22GBs of photos occupying this dik space. But I
am not able to retrieve any photos. Any suggestions as to
how to recover this file? Nothing is in the recycle bin,
because it is set on dumping immediately. I wonder if
some glitch in the screen saver command to show "My
Pictures" transferred the contents, or worse, delted the
entire folder/file. Does any one have any suggestion as
tohow I mioght recover my photos? Thanks....

Search your hard drive for the files to see if you can locate them.

Brad

I hope you find the photos on your C drive. If so, the very first
thing you should do is make a backup to Cd or DVD; no make two copies
for security.

Secondly, lose the screen saver.

The screen saver didn't do anything to your pictures. It is perfectly
safe. Please disregard the recommendation to "lose the screensaver."

Because the disk space has stayed about the same, I would guess the
pictures are somewhere on your hard disk. It is possible to change
the path to "My Pictures" using TweakUI (or editing the registry
manually), which would cause it to point somewhere the pictures can't
be found. Make sure you didn't do this accidentally.

If you can't find the pictures by poking around, please let us know--I
am almost certain they are still on your computer.

If and when you do find them, please DO take the recommendation to
back them up. Hard disks DO fail, and you stand to lose all of these
images without a backup.
