every time the prompt comes up to remember a user name
and password I check the box to have it remembered and it
does not work. This is a major pain in the behind. I have
used windows XP for a long time but this is a new
computer and I cant find the problem. Please help.

It sounds as if your security settings are set rather high and that it isn't
retaining cookies. Try setting Internet Security to Medium.
