is my p4 runing to hot ?

i have just brought an intel pf 775 560J 3.6Ghz processor.. it runs at 45degrese when idle and 75-80 when at max. i have also brpught a new mother bord the A-bit ag8 thirdeye wich seems to have the clock speed at 204 x18 in the bios but it frezes everytime i change it to 200 x18 the save and exit

some motherboards have automatic overclocking check the BIOS for it or the motherboard manual, that thing is way to hot for my liking, i would think about getting a new HSF something like the zalman CNPS7700-CU or the XP-120 with a 120 mm fan

download this and see if it starts throttling when running something CPU intensive
