How do I keep MSN IM from logging me in automatically and
without prompting me for a password when I sign into
messenger?

Information from MSN Help:

Stop MSN Messenger from starting automatically
In the main MSN Messenger window, click the Tools menu, and then click
Options.
Click the General tab, and then clear the Automatically run Messenger
when I log on to Windows check box.
Tip

You can start Messenger manually from the Windows Start menu.

Peter - thx for the response - that doesn't help - let me
rephrase my question. On the sign in screen it has my
account e-mail displayed and it says "click to sign in
here" when i do it doesn't prompt for a password - it
automatically signs me in. Is there a way to fix this??

You will need to cancel the sign-in while it is in progress, then click on
Sign In and take off the check mark on the login dialog.
