MSINFO32 Startup Programs keeps showing hundreds
of duplicate entries as "Default" and "NT Authority" no matter
how often I run this script - FixMSINFOStartup.vbs
from http://windowsxp.mvps.org/msinfofix.htm

After running script and rebooting, correct entries are
displayed, but is only temporary until run script again
which is every day. Info as to a more permanent solution
would be much appreciated.

Permanent solution is to remove Norton AntiVirus (if you have it installed).
From past reports, NAV resets the registry values incorrectly during the
session or when rebooting.

Tx for reply. Am using NIS 2006 with NAV and until
subscription expires will keep. All these entires don't
seem to affect boot start-up time or overall performance
of OS - just bugs me that they're all there..

You're welcome. If you have a current subscription to NAV/NIS, why not write
to their support team to notify about this problem? Certainly worth a try,
if they can fix this in their next minor version update itself.

Likely will - have always used Norton software but
have become anti-Symantec mainly due to fact their
programs are not compatible with IE7 and their only
suggestion to a problem was having was to reinstall IE6
with no indication of upgrading their software to work
properly with IE7.
