Hi, my trouble is that when installing Norton Internet
Security 2004, I get the message "need to run MSI through
set up"

Ihave spent much time with "Symantec Help" who have
instructed me to uninstall ALL norton products and clear
registeries.

Have run & installed All available Updates and Patches for
2000 Pro.

Have renamed msiexec.exe in folder system32 to avoid this
application. Downloaded and installed new MSI App from
Microsoft.

Still get the windows error message - "need to run msi
through setup" which suggests that the MSI is corrupt or
there is a conflict with Norton.

It helps a lot if you can quote the exact message because it makes searching
much easier. Symantec recommends using the msi clean up utility, if this
message is the one you really mean:
