The following was sent to the maker of a utility called reforce which makes
up for MS's lack of support for OpenGL games. I play counterstrike which
does well with high refresh rates within games. When using default
settings for my nvidia card and monitor, only 60hz is supported making
gameplay somewhat choppy at less than 60 FPS.
When I use reforce to force higher refresh rates I happily get a base of 70
FPS which makes me quite happy.
----------------------------
Speaking of which, it might be nice to note in your forum/faq that the
latest Nvidia driver which Microsoft provides on the windows update site
breaks reforce. I installed the M$ driver and the reforce settings weren't
being used in my game. Seemed to simply ignore it, no errors or anything.
I do know that I have problems with a number of monitors listed which
aren't in device manager. I'm using XP and when I go to safe mode to
remove all the monitors THERE"S NOT EVEN A MONITORS SECTION! Amazing.
Tried to pull them out of the registry, but even in safe mode, regedit
wouldn't let me delete the keys. Grrr
So I downloaded the latest detonator drivers from nvidia, and I can use
reforce again.
--------------------------------
Of course it'd be nice to get rid of these extra monitors, but it doesn't
seem to impact any performance, so I'll leave them for the moment.
