What's the deal with this titles/effect crash that seems to account for 50%
of the posts in this forum? Are microsoft going to fix it so people don't
have to go and play with XP dispay settings, and give Papa John a break or
what?

Correct me if I am wrong, but no other movie editor requires the user to
adjust their display settings before use, and then reset them again after.

Maybe, but what did you pay for this program?

WMM2 is a fantastic tool for beginners. Easy to learn, easy to use, nice
interface.
The best video editor on the home market is for me Pinnacle Studio 8 but I'm
waiting impatiently for WMM3 :-)

Rocky,

I can sure see from you website why you don't want to change display
settings. Here's some Yes and No items for you and others:

Yes, Microsoft is working on the hardware interfacing issues that effect not
only Movie Maker 2, but other Microsoft. No, I know nothing about their
specific work, plans or schedules for releasing any changes. But Movie Maker
will continue to evolve for XP users.

Yes, I respond to lots of posts. They have become so routine that they are
easy, so I don't need a break. No, an instant total fix released today
wouldn't stop all the posts and emails that ask for help. There are so many
copies of MM2 out there already, updates are not automatic, and some people
will always need to ask and get answers.

Yes, Microsoft could have waited to get MM2 more perfect before release. No,
they didn't.

Yes, we are each free to use MM2 as it exists. No, we don't have to - we can
continue to use MM1 and wait for future releases, or we can use other video
editing software, or we can toggle one last time our hardware settings and
just play games.

Nice site by the way! I have a son in Silicon Valley who is heavily into
games. He doesn't do any video editing.

Heh, yeh, having to reset hardware acceleration everytime I fire up a game
is getting old very fast.

If they did that, they'd be breaking new ground for software development p

Microsoft has made it rather difficult to precisely define "OS": early
versions of "Internet Explorer" were clearly not part of the OS while now
there isn't much difference between "Windows Explorer" and "Internet
Explorer". Although I don't really expect WMM will find its way into the OS
the same way IE did...

Microsoft says that IE is part of the OS.

According to MS, XP isn't XP if it doesn't have MM. Video editing is a
function of XP - that functionality is packaged in MM and MM2.

As Microsoft consider it part of the Operating System, the files will be
replaced as soon as you delete them.
