I have a laptop and tower, both with WinXP. I would like to start a
collection of MP3 files either by download or by conversion of CDs into MP3.

What do I need to do this? Do I need additional cards?

Peter.

dbpowerAMP - Convert iTunes M4P music to MP3!! It works!!!"Conversion of CDs
into MP3"? What do you mean, what format are the
CDs in? You can load the music files from the CDs to your harddrive and
then convert them from almost any format to MP3, but you did not provide
that information. "Do I need additional cards?" What cards, soundcards?
You only need one system soundcard to convert any file, but will probably
need different apps depending on the format of the music you are trying to
convert. Below are a couple of conversion apps you can take a look at.

WMA to MP3 converter, MP3 organizer, MP3 tagger, CD burner

Additionally, there is a very good freeware app called CDex that will
"rip" your CDs onto your hard drive into mp3s. You might also need to
install "Force ASPI" if your OS does not have the ASPI files.
