Servers: Win2K Advanced Server
Workstations: Win2K Pro, WinXP
We have a relatively small network here; it consists of about 35-45
workstations. All of the workstations have been moved over to the domain. We
still have a few servers that reside on the workgroup. The main roles of
these server on the workgroup are the File Server, Fax Server and, Reports
Server. The one I want to focus on is the File Server.
It contains valuable information that the employees access daily to conduct
business. Most of the workstations have shortcuts to the folders they access
most often. The user have to be individually added to the servers so they can
have access to the data. My goal is to add all the servers to the domain for
better centralized management and security.
I just don't want to have any major issues arise when i move the file server
to the domain. Once the server is moved, how is it going to effect user
access and shortcuts? It should be using the Active Directory right?
Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
