movie maker shuts down by itself

When using movie maker 2 with windows XP I am able to
upload a video into the movie maker
.. However when I attempt to put a transition or
add titles to the video, the movie maker application
suddenly shuts down with no error message.

i re-install the movie maker application
but this has not made any difference.
