I am running Windows xp sp3 on all my computers.
Two of my computers are now having mouse problems.
Many times when I click the left button on the mouse, it will be a double
click.
I have checked the mouse settings and have tried to slow down the speed,
but the problem still is there. The mouse settings are still at single
click.

I tried to do download mouse drivers, but I keep getting "Driver Detective"
which I do not want, or to pay for.
Has anyone any advise to fix this problem?

Who made the Mouse???
The manufacturers website would be the place to search for drivers.
How old is the mouse........they do wear out.
Nothing lasts forever

The "button" on a mouse is a piece of plastic whose flexibility due to
cuts allow it to have a hinge. That button flap then presses down on a
pushbutton switch underneath. If the plastic hinge gets worn (fatigued)
then it gets closer to the pushbutton switch making it much easier to
press the pushbutton switch more than once. In fact, if the mouse is
over fatigued (especially from abuse, like smacking it), that plastic
flap (the "button") could actually be resting against the pushbutton
switch and causing multiple closures of the switch. The switch can go
bad, too.

Get a new mouse. Or try a different one (with less wear and/or abuse).
