Should I download a free motherboard monitor for my laptop? I'm
concerned that it might slow down my computer, but on the other hand, I
want to do everything I can to preserve my investment.

Depends what you mean by 'motherboard monitor'. There is a program called
'MotherBoard Monitor' that is very good and that uses little computer
power... BUT it is very unlikely to work with any laptop, and has not been
updated in two years. The second thing about a 'motherboard monitor'
program is that it is not very useful unless you are overclocking your
system and want to squeeze ever drop of performance you can. For the
purpose 'preserve my investment', the safeguards built into modern laptops
will do as much or more. You don't need a motherboard monitor.

Is it recommended or provided by the laptop's manufacturer? If not,
don't bother.
