My Windows 2000 Pro loads normally but no programs will run.
When I click on a program it comes up with cannot find file - although the
files are there, and the icon paths are correct. A second installation of
Win 2000 Pro on the same computer runs fine.
Two things I have done recently.
1/ Microsoft site installed sp4 and some other security patches. I thought
that ittings were ok afterwards.
2/ I deleted a file called mkxwkdd.exe 104 Kb that downloaded from the
internet into My Documents directory. And another copy I found installed in
the WINN directory - which is the one deleted.
I have had the MBlast virus recently and been sent several emails alledgely
from Microsoft with software patches updates with them that do not have the
valid certificate.Microsoft web site warns that it never sends emails with
updates attached so be warned. I did click to open this file, but when I saw
that it was no MS valid certificate I cancelled.
