Minolta Scan Dual IV Installation Question

I have an iMac with the current version of Mac OS X. I installed all the
software, connected the power and USB cables and turned the scanner on. The
green light blinks to show it's initializing but never stops blinking. Is
this normal or should the light stop blinking with the door fully closed?

As it is right now, if I open the door and try to insert either film tray,
it will not "pull it in."

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

If it is similar to Scan Dual II (my scanner), initializing is not
only a blinking status light, which just says it's on, but also a stop
and start whirring sound. It will cycle 4 or 5 times, then sort of rev
up and stop, at which point it is ready. I think just turning the
scanner on will not initialize it. You need also to start some
software to interface with it. I'm very rusty on the Minolta oem
software. Are you intending to interface with your scanner through
Minolta's twain interface within Photoshop. If so, you would start
Photoshop, then go to pulldown File|Import|Scan Dual IV (something
similar to this), and THEN, you should start hearing the initializing
noise. I believe you can also start Minolta oem software as a
stand-alone app (Easy Scan?), independent of Photoshop, but I'm so
rusty on this, I'm not sure. I only interface thru Vuescan, for over a
year now.

If it is similar to my Dimage Scan Elite 5400, the blinking light as Pat
describes it, is normal. Initialization dosn't start until you've
started the software (either the Minolta software or VueScan or
SilverFast). The film holder is only pulled in after initialization.

Hi,

I have the Dual Scan IV on XP - But the process is probably the same.
First plug it in and get the flashing light with the door closed - Next
start the software, The light should glow steady and then ask you to
insert the tray - Open the door to the first notch only and the unit
should grab and position the carrier.

I'm wondering if your problem has been resolved?

I've been considering buying the Dual IV to use with eMacs and iMacs,
but they have only USB 1.1, while the Scan Dual is USB 2.0. Is there a
compatibility issue here, or can the scanner adjust to the Macs slower
data rate?
