I have the following setup. An AthlonXP 2200+ emachines computer with Finale software. I have a Radio Shack MD-500 midi kybd. Connecting them is a USB/female joystick port cable connected to a midi adapter with male and female joystick ports on one end, and midi in and midi out plugs on the other end. I am running the midi out plug from the midi kybd to the to the male joystick port, which is connected to the female joystick port on the cable with the USB plug on the other end attached to the computer USB input.
The midi kybd is labeled MIDI OUT and that prompted me to use the MIDI OUT plug on the joystick/midi cable.
My computer doesn't seem to recognize any signal coming from the midi kybd
What am I doing wrong? Does anyone have a similar setup or, any setup at all that works

Strangely i think you have to put the midi in plug into he midi out socket
on the midi keyboard, and vise versa with the midi out plug(into the midi in
socket on your keyboard. I think maybe some configureing maybe necessary in
your soud card/imput section. And also in the Finale setup section.
