I keep getting message unavailable when I click on the
responses to posts.

What does this mean. Is the newsgroup database timing out?

Maybe your news server is removing messages faster than you are getting to
them. Who hosts your news server? How long do they keep postings? Some news
group hosts only keep the posts for a very short time. This saves them
having to invest in new hardware. If your news server host has a policy of
only keeping posts for a short time, find a new host.
