Hi Everyone,

My computer at home uses Windows XP professional, and I have ComCast as my
broadband service. My question is whenever I log on to my work Computer
using a VPN connection, my computer completely slows down and my internet
does not work. The second I disconnect my internet starts working and my
computer is running find. My home computer and my work computer are not
connected to a router, or port-switch. Both of my computers are connected to
cable modem directly. I am not sure why this happens. Can someone let my
know why my VPN connection disconnection internet.

It could be because of the default gateway being that of your VPN network.
This can be changed by going to the networking Tab of the connection, TCP/IP
Properties->Advanced and uncheck the "Use default gateway of the remote
network".

You can get the internet connectivity by unchecking the option "Use default
gateway on remote network"

VPN connectoid -> Properties -> Networking tab -> Internet
Protocol(TCP/IP) -> Properties -> Advance button -> General tab

By doing the above you would be doing split tunneling.

Without using split tunneling option:
Are you able to connect to the internet from the VPN Server? Does it have
any proxy settings? If yes, you would have to provide the same settings for
your VPN connection in the internet browser.

Important Note:

Check with the network admin at your office to see if this is
acceptable with your office's security policy... Split Tunneling
entails additional security risks as you may be bypassing some of the
office security measures (like virus scanning, trojan filtering, etc).
