Disclaimer: I'm pretty knowledgeable about pc's but now I'm trying to help a
friend with a Mac - so I'm flying blind here :-)
Power PC 7200/90.
System 8.6 US
Clarisworks 2.0 cdv1
Personal LW LS printer
He had an even older mac and before he got this one and he copied the
entire hard drive contents from the original machine to this machine (via a
zip disk).
The older mac was running System 7.2
Now here's the thing - when he opens a New document in ClarisWorks it prints
correctly - no problem.
*But when he opens an old file, that was created on the old computer with
the same Clarisworks, e.g. his important database mailing list, then it
prints as gobbledygook - it leaves out most of the fields/info.
The first thing I checked was - did he update the printer driver for the
'new' operating system (System 8.6) - which he says he did (someone had
sent him a .sit file which he expanded and placed in the Extensions folder).
Can anyone provide a link to the correct driver download so I can be certain
the right driver is stalled although I assume it is or new files would not
print correctly either.
The cable connections (computer>printer) must also be ok as New files print
correctly.
Appletalk is Off (it's a single computer/printer and the printer is not
shared on a network).
Since I'm not familiar with the OS System or the printer, I may be
overlooking the obvious - can anyone throw some light on the problem?
thanks,
Frank
