a lot non read confirmations from an account when empty the trash folder

Hi.

I have an email server using IMAP for all the users.

Today, when an account empty the trash folder, but just that account,
start to spread a lot non read confirmations to all the email
accounts. Is that normal?

All the users work only with MS outlook (some with 2007 and others
with 2010). I dont understand what can trigger that situation.

can you provide me some idea to search the reason?
