Sometimes when one person logs off or switches user the
internet connection drops out. Other times it doesn't. Why
does this happen and how do I fix it?
Cheers

Connect via the Connect To (or Network Connections depending on settings) on the Start Menu. In the dial box tick save passwords for all users.

We tried that but but afterwards we couldn't load pages and
they kept timing out. And when we undid the change in the
registery everything went back to normal and started
loading again. Any other ideas?

That setting does not cause any browsing issues, AFAIK. Are you able to repro the problem more than twice?
