Hello all,

This is, most probably, a daft question but I'll ask anyway! ;o) I'm going
away in April for 3 weeks Goa in India, thanks for asking ;o) and just
wanted people's opinions on whether its ok to leave the PC plugged into the
mains or to unplug it from the mains?

BTW I'm in the UK, if that makes any difference.

I generally unplug stuff when away for that long, essentially because you
wont be around to turn it off if it all goes pear shaped due to a fault etc.

Yes, it does, that soggy little island could see it go under water while you are away.

And we have lots of those as well, mostly in the House of Lords.

Shut it off. Unplug it from everything to protect against
lightning etc. Now it won't be a fire hazard.

Yes - and don't forget to unplug the 'phone line, as that can cause damage
from lightning. Friend down the road lost 2 PCs, a printer and a fax m/c,
(also his mains distribution board and car electronics) and that was not a
direct hit!
