Linked Images On Forms & Reports

Access XP Pro, Windows XP Pro in a lan. GIF images stored on a sub
directory below database front end location. Typical look of linked
image in property window: \\bsc\hcs\medops\Public\Databases\Letters
\images\imgFEPLogo.gif. All images are GIF.

No images are stored within the database.

In the database window:
I have noticed that when I point (not click) the cursor at parent
level reports that contain links to image files (there three images/
report) that the screen flickers slightly saying "...importing
image...". The flashing continues until the cursor is no longer
pointed at the parent report. A moment ago I opened two parent
reports in the design mode side by side. The flickering began
(doesn't usually happen in the design mode) and continued until Access
bombed and shut down. Is there a better way to handle images on forms/
reports rather than linking them?

Note: We are about to migrate from Access XP to Access 2003.

Regards,
Bob

Bob,

Download and run my Picture Manager sample app and see if you are still
getting a flicker.
