Hello,

I currently run an XP Pro, XP x64 dual boot setup with 2 additional free
partitions. I believe that Vista Ultimate will come with 32 bit and 64 bit
versions in the box.

Would the terms of the license allow me to install both versions on my free
partitions or does 1 installation = 1 purchase?

One license for each installation is the rule, however in practice it may
work.

Even without the 32 or 64 bit issue I have seen various posts about
whether it is possible, or actively allowed, to have the same PK
registered on two different patitions on the same machine.

I thought I heard that with Vista (though not XP) this would not be
possible (activation will not work). So I would very much doubt that you
can install both the 32-bit and 64-bit on the same machine.

No. If yuo want to run both then you need a licence for each one.
