I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "LaunchModem", can you be more specific (just explain what
you're seeing).
Also, I'm sure what you mean by "Remote Access", do you mean Remote Assistance or Remote
Desktop?
In terms of a checklist, does your friend also have a router? If so, the router will need to
support Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) in order to establish voice conversations. You can
quickly see if it has UPnP by clicking Start, All Programs, Accessories, Communications,
Network Connections and looking for the "Internet Gateway" heading. If you don't see one,
either the router doesn't have (proper) UPnP support or there is no router (which would be
fine too).
Any other details on his networking configuration would be helpful.
