Hi,
I updated to Service Pack 2. I have WindowsXP Prof. Now I cannot view
javascripts nor Java Applets in my IE6. Once this happened before and I ran
a program from MS called "scripten.exe". I did so agan but this time it did
not work. Checked my firewall and even tried to access my website that has
Java Script and Java but no luck. Also checked Internet options but could
not see anything that could cause this. However even in Netscape I cannot
get Java or JavaScript to execute. I believe though it is some setting in IE
as doesn't it overide settings in Netscape via windows?
Brian

Hi Brian :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Because of a court decision Microsoft will stop all Java support after 30
SEP 04 and is recommending that you use the Sun JRE:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/win_manual.jsp

or..........

You can get the new Sun Java J2SE RunTimes or SDK here:
http://java.sun.com/downloads/index.html (all versions - select using the
dropdown)

or here: http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp

Sun also offers an automatic download and install of the 1.4 Java plug-in
here: http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html

or.........

Download the Microsoft Java VM for Windows XP here
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Or you can download it from one of these locations:

http://www.download.windowsupdate.co...72EB7A3865.exe
or
http://ftp.uni-stuttgart.de/pub/syst...M/msjavx86.exe
or
ftp://ftp.uq.edu.au/mirror/microsoft...5/MSJavx86.exe

and..........

You can test whether Java is working on your machine at the following sites:

http://www.pocoso.de/pocoso052.html
http://www.clan.lib.ri.us/clan/javatest.html (This one may be down)
http://www.fitwise.com/testjava.asp (both 1.0 and 1.1 and what's installed)
http://coglab.wadsworth.com/support/browsercheck.html
http://www.ces.clemson.edu/webct/browser_detect.html

and you can test Javascript here:
http://www.dancespots.net/browsertest.htm

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Jan
