im sorta new, but have been able to solve most issues with a little help.
anyway, when i go to lets say pogo(game server) my comp continuesly locks up
forcing a hard crash because it wont do a thing no matter how long i let it
go. i looked for driver conflicts..nothing. it mainly happens when java is
running..any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you have the latest verson of java?
try reinstaling java
Do you have the latest microsoft updates for explorer?
Do you have service pack 2 for that matter?
how much ram do you have on your system?
to check what available memory you have to play with open up what ever
applications you would normally have running surf some web pages etc
whilst you are doing this hit ctrl & alt & del to bring up windows task
mannager
click on the performance tab to view what memory you have free.
also your system may lock up if other system resources are low!
goto start menu \ run then type " MSCONFIG " click on the startup tab and
deselect all but the most important items you wish to have running on startup.
I only have my fire wall & antivirus selected.
too many things on the startup slow your system down.
Also many conflicts have been resolved by removing unnecessary start up items
Go to add or remove programs and refresh your knowledge of what is on your
system. Romove anything you do not need.
Download and install "spybot search and destroy"
download adaware from lavasoft and install .
microsoft also has a antispyware prog.
get up dates and run them all.
Don't just clear temporary internet files folder from within explorer.
You should actually go to the folder and see if there is any files that
persistantly
remain after you have attempted to "delete all "
often infected java script will not allow itself to be deleted.
The only way I have found to delete these files properly is to take out my
hard drive
and completely delete the whole folder not just the contents.
It appears to me that the folder itself becomes infected.
uppon startup the system will create a new folder.
this is a typical path to the folder.... C:\Documents and
Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files.

I am a Pogo Addict as well. And since I upgraded to XP, it will crash, I
lose sound and the video flickers. I use Firefox mostly, but it happens
with IE too. Total crash twice.....video & audio problems at times.

I have gone back to Sun Java 1.4_09 and jumped thru hoops to try and solve
this. Their tech help is not very good, but under sound problems, it names
a well-known sound card as not being compatible.

OK....what I have done so far to solve any of the above. I removed
Macromedia Shockwave (I use Firefox most of the time, btw).....that solved
the sound disappearing problem.

Went back to a previous version of Sun Java......made a titch of difference.
Not much. Removing Shockwave helped a lot.

Mentioned it on MS Outlook Express ng and PA Bear told me that a lot of XP
SP2 folks are having a really bad time with Pogo.

As far as I am concerned, the problems are on their end. I have all the
latest drivers and updates for everything. Still no joy.

Until Pogo sorts themselves out, I guess I will either suffer with XP or use
WinME to play on it. I assume it is something in SP2 that is causing the
problems.

I'm using Java 2 Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_02-b09),
IE version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519
And a fully patched version of Windows XP SP2 Home Edition.
I'm not having any problems with POGO with an exception of a video problem
playing their golf games.
I have no clue as how to make your system run POGO, but just thought you
would like to know that some people are using POGO with SP2.

9% usage of disk.1 gig of ram service pack 2 yes.latest explorer yes..java
removed and reinstaled.. very frustrated, i appreciate everyones input, so
