Itanium was (recently) supposed to be a specialist in the HPC market,
was it not? It's gone from 84 systems down to 46. So it doesn't look
like it's very good for the HPC market either. What's left in niches?

An Intel representative cautioned about reading too much into the
numbers. A new, albeit delayed, version of Itanium 2, code-named
Montecito, is coming soon, which could reinvigorate Itanium's position.

which could reinvigorate Itanium's position but probably won't. ;p
