Hello,

I am trying to install an Audiophile 2496 PCI soundcard on
a Windows 2000Pro machine. It needs to be on its own IRQ.
Unfortunatley, windows automatically assigns soundcards to
IRQ 9. I have changed the IRQ number of the PCI slot in the
BIOS and windows recognizes the soundcard under that
number... until it restarts, and then automatically bumps
it to IRQ 9. Is there any way around this?

In the device manager/hardware/properties/resources there
is a box that says "uses automatic settings" and is
automatically checked and greyed out. Is there any way
around this? After all, whats the use of a check box if you
can't uncheck it.

Thanks

I'm curious...I'm having a similar problem with a agp
card. Changing PNP OS has no effect. Did you have to
reload Win 2000Pro and change the HAL setting? Did you
ever rectify this problem?
Thanks

Do you read WIN2k/xp FAQ???
The only way to change IRQ - DISABLE ACPI AND CHANGE KERNEL/HAL
But do you REALLY want it? Tturning off ACPI -> No more free IRQ's / NO
MULTI DEVICES ON SINGLE IRQ.
But SOMETIMES BIOS can help -> PCI Slot x(choose slot with proper card) IRQ
Assign (First - change IRQ Assignment to Manual /Auto IRQ Assignment to
disabled) to needed , _Sometimes_ windows don't changes it
