I am trying to connect my computer to the LAN at my college. I plug in the
network cable and go to the connections screen and it says I have a LAN
connection. However, none of my internet programs well hook into the LAN
signal. I am running MSN, AIM, Firefox and IE6. If anyone could help me out,
that would be awesome.

Hi,

Check your Network card settings and under TCP/IP and make sure that your
network adapter obtains a network address as well as obtains the DNS server
information automatically.

If that still doesn't work see if there's any special login that's required
for the LAN at your college.
