Insert presentation in presentation

In PowerPoint 2000, inserting a presentation into a presentation was easy and
worked very well, however, I find this is not the case for PowerPoint 2003.
For example, by automatically opening the inserted presentation the first
slide appears and then it passes to the next slide of the main presentation.
I have messed about with all sorts of settings (slide transitions and custom
animation) and I can get the presentation to work but have encountered other
problems like when the presentaion finishes and returns to the main
presentation the first slide reappears on the screen before exiting. This
looks very unprofessional. I wonder if there are any other people that have
the same problem? Any help/suggestions will be most welcome.

Clive

Insert > object (from file) browse to ppt presentation
Resize if required
In custom animation "object action" = "show"

Works for me

Did that answer the question / help?

Thanks for your input John, when done as you say there are a couple of things
that I want to get rid of. Importantly, when the last slide of the inserted
ppt is reached the next mouse click should close the ppt and return to the
main ppt (as in ppt 2000). It doesn't, it goes shows a copy of the first
slide. If I "hide after animation" in the "custom animation" it shows the
background of the slide with the inserted ppt. I do not want to see that. Do
you have any ideas how to correct this?

Many thanks

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the screen flickers when the inserted ppt
loads showing the first screen as. It looks very unprofessional.

Try having the "show" animation "after previous"
Add an "after previous" "dissapear" exit animation to the inserted object
Make the (next) slide transition auto after 0 secs

Having worked on it most of the day yesterday, here is how I finally got it
to work. The secret has been to insert a shape. I used a rectangle, the same
shape as the slide and colour, black. Here are the proceedures I used. Have a
go. If you can make it easier then all the better. As it stands for the
moment it is quite quick to set up as we normaly have these things to setup
at the last minute.

Main slide
• Background colour → Black
Slide transition select
• On mouse click
• Automatically after (00:00)

Add rectangle same size as slide 5doesn't have to be same size but makes
sense
• Fill black
Custom Animation
• Add effect → Entrance → Dissolve In
• Start → On Click
• Speed → Very Fast

Insert presentation as Object with link
• Add effect → Object Options → Show
• Modify Show → With Previous
Effect Options
• Hide before this action
• Hide after animation

Thanks again for you input John.

Best regards
