We are upgrading to Win2k and having the following problems
We are trying access https website with IE6 SP1 on
win2ksp4 and its failing. We can log into the sites but
after a few minutes the site times out. Not all https
sites fail. If we down grade from IE6sp1 to IE5.1 all
works fine. But IE6sp1 accesses all the sites fine on an
NT4SP6a build.
We have spoken to the web designers and the IE setting
should be default no special settings.
We are accessing the web thru a MS Proxy, default settings
(No win2k AD - NT domain enviroment).If we take a win2k
IE6sp1 pc and point it directly at the internet everything
works 100%
We have built a ISA server and that didn't help either.
My questions are:
1) What is the difference between IE5 and IE6 in the way
it accesses https sites (ssl)
2) Why does IE6sp1 work on a NT4 box and not with win2k
3) Is there a special setting for the proxy box ?
This is what I have built and tested so far for accessing
the failed https sites.
OS passed failed Without proxy
NT4sp6a IE6sp1 yes yes
win2k IE5.01 yes yes
win2ksp1 IE5.01 yes yes
win2ksp2 IE5.01 yes yes
win2ksp3 IE5.01 yes yes
win2ksp4 IE5.01 yes yes
win2ksp1 IE6sp1 no yes
win2ksp2 IE6sp1 no yes
win2ksp3 IE6sp1 no yes
win2ksp4 IE6sp1 no yes
I am totaly stuck !
