Hello;
After upgrading to IE6 from IE5 in windows2000, I am having a weird
back button problem.
http://tinyurl.com/3yccg
When I search google groups and view an entire thread then click on a
link which leads to a remote site, after I navigate back to the google
groups page, I cannot go any further back. I am stuck in a loop.
The above link contains a link to whitehouse.gov. When I click on it
and exit the google page and then click back, I arrive at the google
group page but cannot click back to the original search results page.
The back button functions, however, I notice that the forward button
briefly flashes. Also, the status bar at the bottom left states that I
am at
www.whitehouse.gov, yet I am at the google page.
I have scanned my system with two updated virus scanners. My system is
not infected. I have also used spybot S&D as well as adaware. Nothing
is suspicious.
I had no problem with IE5. I have twice uninstalled IE6 and
reinstalled. Each time I uninstalled IE6, the problem disappeared. I
have deleted all temp internet files. I have deleted my history cache.
I have deleted all cookies. Nothing is helping. This is very annoying
as i use google groups search quite frequently.
Any ideas? I am inches from wiping and reinstalling my entire OS. I
have a theory that some spyware has damaged my system. There was
spyware installed until I wiped it out. My other theory is that IE6
works in this broken manner on Win2K machines in an attempt to cause
it's users to "upgrade" to XP... call me cynical
