I have the same set of symptoms for three different dial-up ISPs. After I connect, no matter which web page I try to bring up, the page shows up, displays for three seconds, and then IE closes. The connection stays up, but the pages do not. It does not matter which page is displayed or which ISP I use. I emptied the cache, but it made no difference.

I am running Windows XP, and everything was working fine earlier to day. I have also run SpySweeper to get rid of all spyware. Any ideas?

Harley

We saw this problem appear in an Enterprise unit about 4:45pm PST today
9/21/06. We have not been able to analyze the why and what else may be
affected, but removing the Yahoo toolbar will correct the IE closing issue.
Not all our computers with the Yahoo Toolbar are crashing IE6 so some other
factor may be involved. We have about 600 computers with the same image. So
far only 4 have shown up with this issue. In all four cases removing yahoo
solved the crash. Steve

Hi All,

Yahoo Companion (5.5.5.0) - ycomp5_5_5_0.dll

Perhaps this has something to do with it

Yesterday afternoon, this occurred. Going to control panel and internet
options, change the home page to something else.. msn.com, google... you
know. Apparently hotmail was causing it. Homepage was hotmail.com.
We put a hotmail icon on the desktop so there is effectively a second (or
more) way to start IE..
fixed it right now
