Hello,
This post is to anyone who uses Windows XP and a Hercules Game
Theater XP (GTXP). The Hercules Gamesurround Fortissimo might
also apply. I am using a GTXP 6.1 sound card. The GTXP has an
external connector box which has both 6.1 analog and digital
outputs. I use Windows 98(1). When I connected my 2.1 speaker
mini-plug to the GTXP rear 2 speaker connection labeled
"Surround", the 10 band equalizer does not work. The equalizer
works for the "front/main" connector on the GTXP, but not for the
"Surround". I called Hercules tech support in July and the tech
dude tested the "Surround" connection on a Windows XP system. He
told me the equalizer also does NOT work on it.
To anyone who reads this who is using Windows XP SP1 with the
latest Hercules 6.09 drivers: Could you please test the
"Surround" connection on the GTXP external box and see if your 10
band equalizer works? I especially would like to know if the 10
band equalizer works on a 5.1 speaker system connected to the
GTXP via S/PDIF toslink or coaxial cable.
I like to watch movies on my PC using the GTXP for sound output.
I always use the 10 band equalizer. I would like to know if the
GTXP equalizer works correctly because I want to buy a 5.1
speaker system (preferably with a S/PDIF coaxial input). This
way I can watch movies with Dolby Digital sound. If the
equalizer also does not work correctly on WinXP(SP1), there is no
point for me to upgrade to XP for now.
I faxed Hercules on September 18, 2003 but I never received any
response. If your equalizer does not work for the other
channels, you can fax Hercules management at (514)279-2558. If
you contact Hercules Tech support, I doubt you will accomplish
anything. You need to contact their management directly for
driver improvements.
