Hey guys, lets see if someone can help me with my
problem here. I just build a new computer AMD ATHLON
XP2400, 512DDR, ATI128MBDDR,WD 120GB 7200RPM, 12XDVD,
52X24X52 CDRW. I i format and partition the hard drive,
and then insert my Windows Xp Pro Full Cd, i boot from cd
and the blue installation screen shows up, at the bottom
it shows the "press f6 for raid drivers or w/e" then
the "press f2 for recovery". After that it basicly
freezes, except it is still at the blue screen and it
still says windows xp installation at the top, but no
messages at the bottom, and i cant ctrl-alt-del to
reboot, i've tried 2 different Xp Cds. i have to either
press reset or shut it down and reboot.I've tried 2
different Xp Cds. So i installed windows 98, and it works
just fine. I tried to upgrade from 98se to Xp, still,
once it gets to that screen, shows the 2 messages then
freezes at the blue installation screen. I'm not sure
what this is, i've formatted twice. I'm all out of ideas.
If anyone could help me i'd greatly appreciate it.
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME, JUSTIN

most likely a problem with your hardware like ram. try
removing all non essential devices and swaping out the
ram. then try again. also might try resetting the bios.

Hi,

WindowsXP is much less fault tolerant than Windows98. Your situation
suggests a hardware problem - either a misconfiguration or a bad component.
Recheck cabling, jumper settings, do NOT overclock, and run a software test
on the ram using something like Docmemory. You might also try limiting
peripherals and booting with only one ram stick installed (if you are using
multiple sticks).
