I installed the service parck 4, then I can not connect to the
internet. All the
configurations in IP/TCP have not been changed! I uninstalled the
servie park 4, but the problem still exists. I tried to delete the
network card, reinstall it and set the IP/tcp again. I also tried to
make a new connection. All these didn't solve the problem. Can anyone
give me some hint? I really don't want to reinstall the operating
system again(I have so many peripherials and softwares)! Thanks!

You may want to check and make sure that whatever gateway you use to
access the Internet is working properly. It would be a coincidence if
the gateway wasn't working at the same time you did the Service Pack 4
upgrade. If you can provide us with more specific details on what
errors/problems you are having while trying to access the Internet, and
how, that would also help.

My wife's machine is having the same problem after updating to SP4
(express version). The only site she's able to go to (for some reason)
is Google.com. Every other site just hangs with nothing displaying.
Everything worked fine before this latest Windows update!!! Gateway, IP
address, dns etc. are same as before, so should be fine.

I guarantee that the gateway is working. I can not connect to any
site, and can not ping to my server. I really have no clue about how
it happened. I just installed the SP4, then it happened. The behavior
is that when I open the broswer, it shows "Finding
site:www.google.com", then after couples of mins it shows a can not
find DNS server error.

Alao just found out yesterday, after I installed sp4, I got a losts
event errors like these:
