HELP PRINTER PROBLEMS

My printer is taking a long time to spool
the documents before printing and therefore it is taking
too long to print documents. I do have it set on high
speed printing but not sure what other settings may speed
it up.

Also I think there may be a conflict with my scanner. If
I am scanning and working on my computer at the same time
and want to print a document the computer often freezes.

The window then half disappears leaving bits behind and
holes in places.

Are you able to recommend anything on any of these points
please.

I am so fed up that I am thinking about buying a new
printer and scanner. An expensive fix!
