I can't send or receive email through Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail Beta
I have followed the instructions from my ISP (Sky) in order to receive mail
through Windows Mail but to no avail. My email is provided by Google. I have
also attempted to set up additional email accounts (which I set up in Sky
first) but they don't work either. I get the following error message:
Unable to send or receive messages for pop.sky.com(1) account. The
connection to server failed. Server pop.sky.com Windows Live Mail Error ID
0X800CCC0E
Protocol POP3 Port 995 Secure yes Socket error 10060

Tell me about it; I think I'm going insane!!!!!! It doesn't matter what I
try, I just can't get Windows Mail to work in harmony with my ISP/emails.
Never had this trouble with XP. What is it with Vista?

It's just a matter of properly configuring Windows Mail or Live Mail.

To receive your Gmail, you first need to enable POP mail on the Gmail
webpage.

Then follow the instructions for OE...

Thanks for replying Dave. I'm not actually getting my emails from Google, I'm
receiving them through Sky Broadband powered by Google. I can get my emails
if I login to Sky; but I don't want to. I want to use Windows Mail just as I
used to use Outlook Express when I had XP.

The Sky instructions that Dave found use default email ports.
According to your error message, you are using non-default
port 995 with SSL. You should be using port 110 without DSL.

I have same problem. I was forced to switch to embarqmail. I set up the
server info exactly as directed. I keep getting splashed asking me to
login with user name and password. I login, press enter and the splash
returns again asking me to login again and again and again. danny
